Almanac: At the Capitol

I reported earlier the caucus chaos with Dems being turned away at a Woodbury polling place. The other side of town for the other party it seems to be a different story. Here's the word from another trusted source:

From an area that has recently supported candidates from both major parties--- Pawlenty, Coleman, Ramstad and also Clinton, Gore and Kerry. Represented by State Rep. Maria Ruud (DFL) and State Sen. David Hann (GOP).

Two of the three precincts meeting together had only one citizen show up.

The other (my caucus, 4G) had 32 in attendance (more than twice the usual number).

Straw Poll:

* Romney—21
* McCain—6
* Paul—5
* Huckabee—2

Delegates (6) expressing support for Romney were elected to the SD 42 convention.

Absolutely no debate or votes on issues.

This was my 19th straight caucus.
