A spoken word performer sizes up Minnesota.
A veteran of national Slam Poetry competitions, Kait Rokowski is a captivating performer who now calls New York home. Among the memorable lines in her poem “Minnesota” is this one: “You know, if you study Minnesota long enough it kind of looks like he’s reaching out, trying to give the East Coast a hug.” Rokowski performed Minnesota on TPT’s MN Original program in 2011.

Narrative poetry. Spoken word. Lyric poetry accompanied by music. Poetry that rhymes and poetry that slants, bends and winds. During National Poetry Month, TPT presents a poem from the archives every day: 30 Poets, 30 Days. Some of the featured poets are Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winners. Most call Minnesota home. Every one of them represents a journey in language and culture.
