Twin Cities PBS (TPT) presents “Broadcast Wars,” a captivating documentary that explores the golden era of Minnesota broadcast news in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, when the ratings battles were fierce, the rivalries between anchors were legendary and a news revolution forever changed television. “Broadcast Wars” will debut on November 26 as a two-hour film on TPT 2 and a 3-part streaming limited series available on the PBS App.

Before its release, join us on Thursday, November 21 at 6:00 pm for the premiere of “Broadcast Wars” at the Riverview Theater in Minneapolis. Following the screening, Co-Executive Producer Cathy Wurzer will moderate an exclusive panel conversation with beloved broadcasters from the film and the news anchors of today.

Schedule:

  • 5:30 pm – Doors open
  • 6:00 pm – “Broadcast Wars” screening
    • Select clips from “Broadcast Wars”
  • 7:00 pm – Panel conversation moderated by Cathy Wurzer
  • 8:00 pm – Event concludes

TCMedia Now is looking for vintage commercials, sports events, news broadcasts, and off-air movies, and TV shows. If you have old VHS tapes, bring them to the “Broadcast Wars” premiere and be a part of this exciting project. Chances are the movie you recorded 30 years ago has commercials and news!

  • What We’re Looking For: Off Air recordings of movies with commercials, sports events, news broadcasts, TV shows, and more from 25+ years ago
  • Quantity: If you have more than a box of tapes to donate, please contact TCMedia Now directly for special arrangements ([email protected])
  • Important Note: Donated tapes will not be returned, unless special arrangements are made.
