Appreciators of Alex Kuno’s series The Miscreants of Tiny Town often have a very different perspective on the story behind the image than the painter himself, and Kuno is just fine with that. Exercising his more pessimistic tendencies, these darkly comic pieces are shaped by the curved wood panels they are painted upon, capturing a moment from a story much like a page torn from a book. Closer inspection of these curiously whimsical depictions of children wearing animal skins, befalling some sad fate or fighting back against newly appearing adults brings these stories to life.
