Yudong Shen infuses his Asian brush paintings with color and contrast, a practice more common to western painting than the 2,000-year-old discipline in which he works. Traditionally depicting landscapes, figures, or flower-and-bird, Asian brush painting is recognizable for its use of black ink and water on rice paper.
