Cy Thao’s paintings came from a reflection he had at a party. He looked in a mirror and thought, “Jeez, who am I?” He had a yearning to learn more about who he was and where he came from. Who are you? Where do you come from? Do you know your family’s history? Did you immigrate from somewhere? If so, from where and when did your family emigrate? Also, what is unique about the way Thao creates his art? Thao talks about a journey – either a physical journey or journey of process. What are those journeys?
