Painter Gary Korlin says that when he paints, the works doesn’t always come together easily. When it does happen, it makes the effort so rewarding. What are some of the things that you find rewarding? Are they easy to do, or do you have to work hard? What makes something rewarding?

Korlin doesn’t always like to paint exact details; instead he prefers to paint the suggestion or the feeling of a place. Sometimes this means that his paintings don’t make sense close up, but come into focus when he steps back. He refers to this as “realistic impressionism.” Create your own piece of art that captures the feeling of a place rather than the exact details.
