Guillermo Cuellar talks about the anticipation of waiting to see how his pottery will turn out after it’s been fired. Write about a time when you worked hard at something and had to wait for the results, not knowing how it would turn out. Were you pleased or disappointed?

Guillermo Cuellar used several different tools to add texture and design to his pots. If you have access to a potter’s wheel and kiln, make a basic pot and then experiment with texture and design using different tools and materials. Fire and then glaze. If you do not have access to a wheel and kiln, you can use playdough or another type of clay to experiment with texture and design.
Cuellar uses piano wire and coils in his potting. What are some unexpected tools you can use to add texture and design to your clay? How many different effects can you created using the same medium but utilizing different tools?
