Much of Harriet Bart’s work revolves around the notion of memory and remembering. In the piece Enduring Afghanistan she remembers fallen soldiers, and in Autobiography she shares memories of her own life experiences. If you were to do a similar autobiographical piece, what are some of the objects you would place in the test tubes? Explain why you would include them.

Harriet Bart describes her work as bricolage–bringing disparate things together into a unified whole. It is like a three-dimensional collage. Using 5-6 random items (paper clips, a necklace, thumbtacks, feathers, shell pieces, etc.) create your own bricolage on a base such as wood or cardboard.
