Writing/Essay/Journal
Heidi Hoy enjoys bronze because it is malleable but lasts forever. In her work she uses carefully honed techniques that contain, but can’t completely control, the results of a pour. Write a poem using bronze sculpture as a metaphor for something that bends but doesn’t break. Your subject should be something that contributes to your strength.
Activity
Bronze is heated in a crucible. One meaning for the word crucible is a place or situation in which concentrated forces interact to cause change or development. Think about your own personal crucible: a place or situation that has helped shape who you are. Share your thoughts with a small group.
