Writing/Essay/Journal
Karen Morris was exposed to horseracing and the accompanying fashions—most notably women’s hats—during her childhood in Hong Kong, a British colony. Karen also studied under mentors in Britain and Australia to hone her craft.
Write about a place you’d like to visit so you could hone a skill set. What about that place lends itself to that craft or skill being developed in the first place? What other factors contribute to a desire to visit that area?

Now make a hat for your theoretical travels. Think about the shape, color and materials of your hat based on the climate of the area and the purpose for your travels. (If you don’t have the materials you envision on hand, for example, polar bear fur for an ice fishing hat for Antarctica, you can use a substitute such as white paper!)
