Activity

1) Watch the segment and discuss:

a. What are other examples of artists and musicians who have drawn inspiration from grief or hardship?
b. How does music play a role in how we grieve?
c. How do we use art to navigate difficult topics?

2) Break off into groups of two.

a. Write one poem together on the theme of Home, whatever that means to you.
b. Play The Ericksons’ song Bring Me Home while the groups work.

3) Reconvene as a group.

a. Have each pair share their poem.
b. How did they work together?
c. What was their process like?
d. What were the challenges and benefits of writing with a partner?
