Composer and advocate for artists, Libby Larsen began writing music in first grade.
In first grade American composer Libby Larsen was taught to write music and by high school was composing. Now her repertoire includes over 600 published works from solos to operas. Larsen co-founded the Minnesota Composers Forum, now the American Composers Forum, in 1973 with Stephen Paulus and continues to be a strong advocate for composers and musicians. Over her prolific career she has been honored with numerous awards including a Grammy, holding the Harissios Papamarkou Chair in Education at the Library of Congress and the recipient of the 2016 McKnight Distinguished Artist Award.
