Investing in a Better Viewing Experience: TPT's Upcoming Technology Transition

October 24, 2024

Twin Cities PBS (TPT) is making important upgrades to its broadcast technology, ensuring a more reliable and seamless viewing experience for all our members and viewers. Starting in late October, TPT will begin transitioning to a new broadcast system that will enhance the quality of our signal and reduce the risk of glitches or interruptions on TPT’s channels – TPT 2, TPT LIFE, TPT MN and TPT KIDS. This upgrade showcases our ongoing commitment to investing in the future and delivering the best possible service to our community.
What You Need to Know:

  • Minimal Disruption: For viewers, this transition should be nearly invisible. You may notice a brief moment of black screen when we make the switch on October 28, but otherwise, you should not see any interruptions to your favorite programs.
  • Improved Technology: By upgrading our technology, TPT is ensuring fewer disruptions to our service and a smoother broadcast experience. This investment reflects our dedication to enhancing the quality of your viewing experience now and in the future.
  • Secondary Audio Programming (SAP): Some programs with SAP may temporarily play the main audio. If this happens, this service will be restored as soon as technically possible.

As we complete this transition, TPT is grateful for the continued support of our members and viewers. Your support allows us to make these critical investments, helping us serve you better for years to come.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting improvement!
