MN Original wants to help you get out in the community and experience art throughout Minnesota.

Visit MNOriginal.org each week this summer to find various events and happenings from  MN Original alums. Then get out there and support some art!

2nd Saturdays – California Building Open Studios

Saturday, Sept. 12 – 12 – 4 p.m.

The California Building in Northeast Minneapolis is a former grain mill turned studio building for working artists. As the first art studio building in the NE area, artists began renting studios here in the 80′s. The tenants include emerging, mid and late career artists in a variety of disciplines.

A haven for a diverse group of artists, the building is now open to the public for open studio tours and sales every month on the 2nd Saturday. Enjoy free parking.

Bluegrass Festival at Caponi Park

September 13 at 2 p.m.

This festival brings nationally and regionally touring, award-winning bands Monroe Crossing, Wild Goose Chase Cloggers, Sawtooth Brothers and Jack Norton and the Mullet River Boys, each with their own unique sound and style to Caponi Art Park.

Franconia Sculpture Park: Art & Artists Celebration

September 12 – 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

What better way to celebrate an exhibition full of new ambitious sculptures made by truly dedicated artists? Throw everyone a creative & fun-filled festival! In true Franconia fashion, there will be live music, family art making activities, guided tours of new work, delicious food & beverages, and more.

Midwest Soap Factory Biennial: superusted 

September 12 – November 12

The Soap Factory Biennial , superusted, is a Midwest exhibit including 5 states and 17 artists. Artists featured include Alexa Horochowski , Andrea Carlson, Areca Roe, Carlos DeGroot , Clarence White, Dyani White Hawk Polk, Jennifer Rogers, Jessica Christy, John Fleischer, Laura Primozic, Lindsay Smith, Mandy Martinson, Margaret Pezalla-Granlund, Phil Olmstead, Pritika Chowdry, Shana Kaplow and Sonja Peterson.
