ST. PAUL, MN (December 2023) — The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) will recognize a Twin Cities PBS (TPT) Executive Producer this December. TPT Executive Producer Carol-Lynn Parente, who has received 19 Emmy® awards, will be inducted into the inaugural Kids and Family Emmy® Silver Circle for her significant contributions to children’s television.
Parente has worked on a number of PBS Kids franchises. Best known for her work as the executive producer of “Sesame Street,” Parente brought her creative talents to TPT, where she is the co-creator and executive producer of “Hero Elementary,” currently airing on PBS Kids. “Hero Elementary” is an educational animated show about budding superheroes attending a school, mastering their innate superpowers and exploring science. Parente is also the co-creator and executive producer for “Skillsville,” coming to PBS Kids in 2025. Funded by the US Department of Education’s Ready to Learn Grant, “Skillsville” promotes self-regulation strategies to enhance executive function, ultimately preparing kids for success in school and future careers. “Skillsville” also aligns interactive digital games with resources and outreach for educators across the nation.
During the past two years at Twin Cities PBS, Parente has further impacted future generations through a Writer’s Program, which offers mentorship to junior BIPOC writers in developing a story for an educational children’s television show. The success of this mentoring program is portrayed through diverse voices from a range of backgrounds featured in the upcoming “Skillsville” stories.

Parente will be inducted into the Emmy® Silver Circle at a special luncheon on Thursday, December 14 and honored at the Second Annual Children’s & Family Emmy® Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, December 17.
