May 10, 2024

May 10, 2024 (St. Paul, MN) – Twin Cities PBS (TPT) is thrilled to announce the streaming premiere of the bold new take on the delectable food and culture series, Relish, now with more chefs, more music and more flavor. Hosted by the acclaimed Chef Yia Vang and produced by TPT filmmakers Brittany Shrimpton and Amy Melin, this innovative series delves into the rich tapestry of food traditions, history, cultural influences, and modern expressions of taste and flavor, catering to the epicurious and those eager to explore new culinary horizons in Minnesota. With six new episodes that offer a longer format than prior seasons, Relish also features a diverse array of local food artisans, including Sean Sherman of Owamni, John Ng of Zen Box Izakaya, Milissa Silva of El Burrito Mercado, Alec and Fiona Duncan of Potter’s Pasties, and Aubry and Kale Walch of The Herbivorous Butcher, among many others.

Unlike traditional recipe-focused shows, Relish presents a captivating journey for viewers, highlighting the intersectionality of food through the lens of Chef Yia Vang’s expertise and passion. Each episode of Relish introduces audiences to a diverse array of chefs and food makers across Minnesota. From beloved staples like pho and ramen to lesser-known delicacies such as lutefisk, empanadas, pasties and beyond, Chef Vang explores the ways in which cultural heritage shapes and informs these dishes, leading to unique and tantalizing culinary experiences.

“Food is so much more than sustenance; it’s a gateway to understanding culture, history, and human connection,” said Chef Yia Vang. “Through Relish, I’m excited to share the stories behind the flavors, ingredients, and techniques that make Minnesota’s food scene vibrant and diverse.”

What sets Relish apart is its deep dive into the narratives behind the food. Viewers can expect to uncover the untold stories of local food artisans, explore innovative flavor combinations and gain insight into the evolution of traditional recipes into modern masterpieces. The series is a celebration of the multicultural influences that contribute to Minnesota’s culinary identity.

All six episodes of Relish will be available for streaming on the PBS App starting May 10, offering viewers an early taste of the series before it airs on TPT2 later this fall. This streaming accessibility ensures that food enthusiasts can indulge in Relish anytime, anywhere, making global culinary exploration more accessible than ever.

Don’t miss out on this delectable journey into the heart of Minnesota’s food and culture communities.
