Twin Cities PBS was honored on October 19, 2024 with four Upper Midwest Emmy awards, along with a total of 17 nominations. This is all made possible thanks to the support of our members and viewers, highlighting the many ways that, together, we impact the lives of Minnesotans through work that is both educational and entertaining. Hope in the Struggle: The Josie Johnson Story

A reflection on the life of freedom fighter and civic leader Dr. Josie Johnson, who fought for fair housing, education and civil rights. Hear in her own words how her experiences turned her to activism, what action looks like and how the next generation is taking up the mantle. The struggle for justice and equality continues, but there is hope in the struggle.
Relish

“Relish” shares stories of cultural heritage in Twin Cities communities through the universal language of food. With humor and curiosity, host Yia Vang invites viewers into kitchens, markets and even a canoe, where chefs share dishes and ingredients with deep personal and cultural ties, offering a flavorful exploration of tradition and identity.
Art + Medicine: Disability, Culture and Creativity

Artists and healthcare clinicians create alternative perspectives on disability, through disability, stories and performances, and redefine what we perceive as normal. Hosted by artist and storyteller Kevin Kling, Professor Jessica Horvath Williams, PhD, and Doctor Tsegaensh Selameab. Created in collaboration with the Center for the Art of Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Almanac at the Capitol

“Almanac at the Capitol” broadcasts live during the legislative session as bills are passed and deals are made. All the most important lawmakers and decision makers from every corner of the state make regular appearances in live debates, committee highlights and floor action. “Almanac at the Capitol” is hosted by Mary Lahammer.

The Electric Indian
(Documentary—Cultural)
A documentary from filmmaker Leya Hale, “The Electric Indian” follows Ojibwe hockey legend, Henry Boucha. A stand-out hockey star from Warroad, Minnesota, Boucha impressed on the ice from the 1969 Minnesota High School Hockey Tournament to the 1972 Olympics to the NHL, but an on-ice assault and injury ended his athletic career that unexpectedly led to a journey of healing and cultural reclamation.
Jesse Ventura Shocks the World!
(Documentary—Historical)
Jesse Ventura is many things, but boring isn’t one of them. Twenty-five years after the pro wrestler shocked the world when elected Governor of Minnesota, it’s high time to explore the people, values and experiences that shaped him. Follow his implausible career path, wild term in office, love of democracy, guns and gay rights, early support of women’s lib and Donald Trump. The phrase “larger than life” is an understatement.

In Minnesota, the Latine community burgeons amidst a vast opportunity gap. Two charter schools, rooted in decades of struggle, champion equity through decolonized, bilingual education. “Profe” delves into this educational revolution, blending history and contemporary narratives to illuminate its profound impact.
