Twin Cities PBS’s Sylvia Strobel Honored with Two Prestigious Awards for Leadership and Excellence

Twin Cities PBS is proud to announce that Sylvia Strobel, President and CEO, will be recognized with two highly prestigious awards in November 2024, celebrating her exceptional leadership and impactful contributions to media and public service.

On Friday, November 15, Strobel will return to her alma mater, St. Olaf College, to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award, its highest alumni honor. Nominated by another alumnus, the award commends Strobel’s outstanding achievements in public media and her embodiment of St. Olaf’s ideals of service and leadership. The nomination highlighted her dedication to public media, which was described as “a continuation of a liberal arts education” that brings “the very best in science, history, music and the arts” to communities nationwide. The award also celebrates Strobel’s impact on lifelong learning through her role at Twin Cities PBS, where her leadership has been an inspiration to alumni and supporter, alike.

Just days later, on Tuesday, November 19, Strobel will be celebrated at the Gracies Leadership Awards in New York City, where the Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) will present her with the esteemed Legacy Leadership Award. This national award recognizes her influential work advancing women’s roles in media, as well as her significant contributions as a former AWM Chair. Strobel joins an impressive list of honorees, , including media leaders from PBS, NBCUniversal, iHeartMedia and the Walt Disney Company. AWM/F President Becky Brooks praised the honorees as “trailblazers driving transformation in an ever-evolving industry,” noting that Strobel’s work exemplifies the mission of the Gracies Leadership Awards.

Strobel’s upcoming awards reflect her dedication to public service and media excellence, as well as her commitment to advancing the role of women in media. Twin Cities PBS congratulates Sylvia Strobel on these well-deserved recognitions and is inspired by her exemplary leadership.
