Davina Sowers loves to perform with her band because she says it allows her to show the audience how she is feeling: “It is great to share that with a group of people… and they get it.” Do you like to share your feelings with people? Does it depend on the mood you are in? What moods are you more likely to share with others?

When Davina sits down to write a song, she has a melody and a phrase in her head. The song Disappears is based on something her friend once said in the car: “I always look for this song and I can never find it. It always just disappears.” The final song ended up being about something different than her friend had been referring to. Start with a phrase one of your friends has said and create a piece of art–music or otherwise–from that.
