Writing/Essay/Journal
Although she jokes about “unsolicited encouragement” in her act, Maria Bamford is conscious of the fact that if she talks about something in her comedy routine, maybe someone else will feel better. Describe a time in your life when you have comforted or made someone else feel better. What was the situation? What did you do? How did you feel afterwards? When have other people made you feel better? What did they do? How does Bamford bring her personal story into her art? What do you think would be most challenging about this form of art?
