Writing/Essay/Journal
Dobby Gibson says that when he begins work on a poem, “If I sit down and have something to get off my chest, that’s usually a bad start.” Write about what do you think he means by that. Is that how you feel about your own writing process?
Activity
Reflect on this section of one of Dobby’s poems:
At some point which is precisely now | Your tireless indecision over what to do with your life | Becomes what you’ve done with your life.
Think of a goal that you’ve procrastinated on reaching and decide what steps you need to take to move forward with that goal. You don’t want to spend your life deciding what to do with it!
