Writing/Essay/Journal
Visual artist Sonja Peterson has created a large scale paper-cut piece about the introduction of potatoes to France. She says that at first audiences see her piece as a whole, then are drawn into the details. For her, it is a meditative experience that she wants to share. Do you enjoy getting lost in the details of a piece of art or music? How long can you focus on one complex thing? What feels meditative to you? How can you share that with others?
What does Sonja want her audience to take away from the experience/piece? Who would you most like to share this type of art with?
Activity
Peterson sometimes creates art based on the things she reads. Create your own piece of art using paper-cutting to reflect something you have recently read.
